Dear Sir or Madam,
I write on behalf of the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society to express our dismay at the discontinuation of your excellent "12 for the price of eight at 39p" offer on crumpets. Since the beginning of this offer, several members of the Society took advantage of the economy it afforded to provide crumpets for our elevenses meetings (held every Saturday at four o’clock). As a result, the details of the offer were inscribed several times in the minutes of the Society, and it has thus become a tradition.

You may thus imagine our state of mind upon discovering that crumpets had reverted to their original price, (8 for the price of eight at 39p, as I am sure you are aware). We would therefore entreat you to reconsider before making this reversion permanent, and consider what Pooh would have done in an analogous position. We would of course be glad to discuss this matter with you further, and you are welcome to send a representative to our next meeting, which will be at 4 o’clock on Saturday in O4a, Pembroke College. We look forward to hearing from you, hope that you remain free from coffs and sneezles, and are,

yours faithfully,

The Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society

(Jonathan Jarrett, Secretary)
