Minutes of Elevenses Meeting of the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society
In which whales speak Welsh, and Malcolm makes cute noises.
Held on Saturday 23rd January in Annie’s room, King's
Present: Malcolm, James, Simon, Ignatius, Alex [a Natsci], Annie, Jessica [a neighbour and exchange student], Roseanna.
Later: Max, Jack, the Beeble-Bear.
- Visitors can vote. 5-0-0-0.
- Annie does interesting facts (but has trouble with James).
- You can never have too many fingers. 5-2-0-0.
- Alex did not go on the sailing trip that got lost on the way to Amsterdam.
- There is hyperbole.
- Assassin-chat ensues.
- Censure Alex for appalling puns. 0-7-0-0.
- Commend Carol for procuring milk for Annie. 7-0-0-0.
- “Unless Ed Anderson is here.”
“Yes, he spoils everything.” - Enter Max, looking be-shorted.
- We discuss lifts.
- Unminuteable chaos.
- We investigate old/foreign money.
- Cambridge folklore is shared.
- We
read Old Testament IX (In Which Piglet is Entirely Surrounded by Water,
which is somewhat appropriate to the current weather and location).
- South African Piglet occurs.
- “Whales speak Welsh”.
- We play hide and seek in Annie’s room, but Ignatius finds us.
- Max leaves.
- We discuss the countryside.
- There seems to be some sort of competition between the Cheese Society and ERICs going on.
- The practicalities of escaping folk dancing are discussed.
- Sowing. [The secretary would like to point out that James meant to write “Sewing”... he just can’t spell].
- We need more votting 5-1-1-0. [James tells me that this in fact says “voting”... I do not believe him].
- We mock James’ spelling.
- Conversations split.
- Enter Jack and the Beeble-Bear.
- Jack mistakes Malcolm for a dead dog.
- James makes a bad pun (the bear gets the seal of approval... *groan*).
- The Beeble-Bear is bear terrifying.
- Alex’s school sold the rights to Winnie-the-Pooh to Disney.
- Ignatius finds innuendo in “Harry the Potter”.
- Ignatius spoils everything.
- This somehow leads to Monty Python.
- Malcolm makes cute noises.
- Ignatius leaves.
