PEMBROKE COLLEGE WINNIE-THE-POOH SOCIETY

MINUTES OF THE ELEVENSES MEETING OF 20/02/99

Present: Jon, Martin, Richard, Neil, Jenny, Jeremy, Yasmin, Chris, Granny
Apologies: Granny, Belinda, Anthony, Mad Jenny, Kirsten, Vicky, Vicky, Ben, Rob, Claire
Guests: Gina (who claims to be Kirsten's fault)

  1. Jon has for once done the minutes ahead of time, but as usual almost no-one is here to see it so no-one will believe him.

  2. Dave Henderson is mentioned.

  3. Jenny reads the minutes of last week's meeting.

  4. Let it be minuted that Jeremy can eat a lot of cake. (Oh. All right then.)

  5. The minutes of the meeting of the French chapter are read: Jon attempts a translation although Rob's French gets too clever for him at points. There appears to be some mention of Micheal and a vibrator, which provokes a deal of discussion until we all suddenly come over English. It is suggested that if he needs a vibrator he should probably get a new boyfriend...

  6. We decide that Rob's minuting was deliberately dodgy, probably trying to impress the visitors.

  7. There are didgeridoos in Market Square again today.

  8. Jeremy forcefully makes for the cakes.

  9. Martin's anti-poster is discussed (not the same as antipasta). But is it art? We decide it probably is and are very congratulatory.

  10. Vote to allow the visitor to vote for the duration of the meeting: F., 6, Ag., 0, Abs., 0; passed.

  11. Yasmin and Chris arrive, but Yasmin promptly disappears through the wall (or so someone says). She then reappears however so all is well.

  12. Vote to censure Brian (for no recorded reason): F., 7, Ag., 1, Abs., 0; passed.

  13. Apparently, by a process of demolition and new building, Homerton is creeping southwards.

  14. We assign spare parts for the reading: Jeremy plays Piglet in the absence of Ben, Jenny plays Wol, and Richard is Christopher Robin. The reading is "In which Eeyore finds the Wolery and Owl moves into it".

  15. Jeremy's falsetto is revealed as the victim of false advertising, i. e. he hasn't one.

  16. Granny arrives and talks about corrupt signal boxes which nearly made him late(r). He has a speech to write for this evening, so he does that and lets Jenny carry on being Wol. Jon is impressed by his dedication in turning up at all.

  17. We discuss the social implications of having CompSci friends.

  18. Martin's TV tickles (says this minute, of which I have no recollection).

  19. Yasmin has brought a lump of Corpus which tripped her up today with her: Jon plots to control the inhabitants of the College with it using voodoo. Yasmin seems unduly keen at the idea of turning Alden into a zombie.

  20. Neither Granny nor Jeremy got Valentines (aww!): we blame the John's chapel clerk.

  21. We discuss people from Peterhouse and why they shouldn't.

  22. Jeremy hums randomly.

  23. Jon, of Mad Jenny and Ben: "Well, she behaves as if she's married to him. In as much as, she bitches at him but doesn't have sex with him." Very few people notice this remark, and I'm not sure that wasn't the way to keep things, but, never mind...

  24. Jenny makes horse-hoof noises with a mug and a phonecard.

  25. We vote to close, reopening just long enough to say that next week's meeting will be in Granny's room, CC32: F., 5, Ag., 2, Abs., 2; carried.
