Minutes of the meeting of the Pembroke College Winnie The Pooh Society held in D14 at 4pm on Saturday 11th October 1997

Present were: Jenny, Alison, Granny, Vicky, Tony, Stephen, James, James, Ben (late), Anthony (very late), Richard Boulton.

  1. The meeting is opened with a vote to censure Ben for being hopelessly disorganised.
    For 3, Against 1, Abstentions 1.

  2. Vote to allow the two people present who were unable to vote to vote for the duration of the meeting.
    For 5, Against 0, Abstentions 1.

  3. Vicky opens the window because it is, apparently, getting a little bit steamy.

  4. The minutes of the last meeting are read by James. Well done James.

  5. Ben introduces the new people and then proceeds to open his letter. It turns out to contain a rather nice selection of Disney Pooh stamps from Canada.

  6. Vote to censure Rob for taking chocolate, gummy bears, coasters, the picture book, and so on.
    For 8, Against 0, Abstentions 2.

  7. General discussion follows this. We consider the possibility of having a formal hall and other things such as opening a Society bank account for the purpose of getting an unusual cheque book.

  8. Ben tells us about the Sheila and her Dog Society (spit, spit) as well as the forthcoming provisionally arranged formal hall of war.

  9. Anthony explains Poohsticks to everyone. It is suggested that Silver Street bridge be closed on Christmas Eve so we can play.

  10. Celebrity Overland Poohsticks is also discussed. Anthony reads letters from John Major and Paddy Ashdown. Perhaps Mr Ashdown could improve on his spelling.

  11. Overland Poohsticks is to commence at some unspecified time in the next two weeks. Extra points are to be had for the delivery of whole trees and very fat porters.

  12. Ben reads edited highlights from the constitution, which is fascinating as per usual. Apparently it's a magnificent piece of literature.

  13. Ben resigns from his position as the James. Obviously James and James are nominated for the post.

  14. Vote to censure Richard for being unlike a gentleman, in particular for taking a ladies chair and for having ridiculously long hair. For 8, Against 2, Abstentions 0.

  15. Hustings for the post of James take place next, followed by skipping down the corridor because it's raining.

  16. Votes in favour of: James 5, James 5. Abstentions 1.

  17. Vote to create the post of James. The James is, in at least one meeting per term, to speak in an Australian accent.
    For 6, Against 2, Abstentions 2.

  18. Vote to put James in the position of James and James in the position of James.
    For 6, Against 1, Abstentions 1.

  19. Anthony used to be called Tony the Tiger at school.

  20. Now a reading is done before it all gets far too silly: In which it is shown that Tiggers don't climb trees.

  21. We agree to meet at 7pm on Tuesday in the bar, for the formal hall. Next week's meeting is to be hosted by the James in the New Building (AA35).

  22. Vote to close this week's meeting. For 4, Against 2, Abstentions 2.
