Minutes of the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society held in AA35, on Saturday 18th October 1997 at 4 p.m

Present: Ben, Alison, Jenny, Andrew, James, Vicky, James, two Sheila (spit) people, Kirsten and the High Princess Jon Skeet and Kirsten, Stephen, (still too hot for his jumper), Anfony (late), Rob (even later)

  1. James reads the minutes. James is responsible for the “particularly impressive” biscuits.

  2. Anthony has a high flier In his pocket. I think we’d prefer not to know, thank you very much.

  3. Ben decides to try out some Koala nipple clamps, thoughtfully brought by James from Australia. At the same try, Granny is trying to clip them on to Jenny’s bag- he’ll do anything for attention, bless him.

  4. James is, apparrently, so slow....

  5. We lament our driving away of Tony and The James by our behaviour last week. We are deeply sorry, and we agree to try to be slightly fluffier in the future...

  6. James creatively edits the minutes. We let him off this time, as it’s a first Koala. But don’t do it again....

  7. We agree once and for all that James is “The Koala”.

  8. Celebrity poohsticks is a must- we’ll be playing it very soon. We agree to authorise the Captain of Poohsticks to write to Anne Campbell, the cast of “Friends”, particularly that lovely Jennifer Anniston, Tony Blair again, in case he’s forgotten, I don’t know, the bloody labour party, what have they ever done for us, Tony Benn, because we like him, even if he is a member of the socialist Bourgeoisie, who will be first against the wall when the revolution comes, and The Pope (who, apparrently, wears rubber, and drinks fresh milk).

  9. Ben is deluged with Gummi bears. A few of them almost go in his mouth.....

  10. There is mention of a “Granny Wet T-shirt Night”. We move swiftly on to the next minute.

  11. We decide to censure Jon and Kirsten for being a member of that foul Sheila and Her Dog (spit, spit) society. F: 8 A:1 Abs: 2.

  12. We propose that Kirsten, not being from Koala, be allowed to become a member. F:4 A:2 Abs:4.

  13. Jon renews his membership; we decide we don’t have to vote on it again; be warned- the Sheila presence is growing ever stronger. Let us be wary.

  14. Ben produces some Sainsbury Economy Squashed Koala Roll. It is acclaimed as delicious, and well worth the price. Perhaps we should write and tell Koala so.....

  15. We propose that it is a nice day, especially for late Koala. F:8 A:2 Abs:3. The motion is carried, and only now is it a nice day. All hail the power of the Poohsoc!

  16. How about we have a few tinnies?

  17. Ben tries to collect names for the Koala list, whilst everyone else tries to Koala him. They succeed.

  18. We vote to censure Ben for bringing a possum inside the meeting. F:12 A:0 Abs:1. I love these tight votes.

  19. The rules for overland poohsticks are discussed again. The possum will start within the next couple of weeks.

  20. Tie me kangaroo down sport.

  21. Anfony gets upset about not being allowed to read Pooh in Russian. He’s probably just pining for Sibylle.

  22. Niall, James’ friend has arrived. We vote to allow him to vote for the duration of the meeting. F:9 A:0 Abs:2.

  23. As Jon is gone, and how we all miss him, especially the Treasure, I would have thought, the position of Pooh is Vacant. We vote to allow Koala to be Pooh of the Society. F:5 A:5 Abs:0

  24. The vote being critically hung, and there being no guests or Christopher Robin, we decide to go and find one. A guest that is. We knock on all the doors of the New Building carefully, as too much knocking may force the building to fall down, or the fire alarm to go off. Finally, we find a bemused Kate, who decides that Anthony shall be Koala. We ask her to stay for Koala and biscuits, but she declines.

  25. The reading is from the Old Testament, Chapter 7, “In which Kanga and Baby Roo come to the forest and Piglet has a bath.”

  26. Rob raises two fingers when asked to read sillily. What is the world coming to? He’ll be smoking next.

  27. There is lots of Single Entendre. Said Enid.

  28. Rob’s Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is fantastically sexy. I suppose something about him has to be, although I’m sure Annalise would disagree.

  29. We decide that Joy, and not Pooh, would be much better at distracting Kanga by talking at her.

  30. Rob keeps interjecting. It seems that the Koala in the 100 aker wood is very variable.

  31. There are crumbs on the minutes. Not these printed ones, obviously, but the original ones I took.

  32. Rob and Jenny apologise for next week.

  33. We vote to censure Jon again, just for the hell of it really. F:9 A:0 Abs :2

  34. The next possum, which must be an EGM as we don’t have a koala, will take place in the Laundry Room of 2 Selwyn Gardens. Or maybe room 7. We’ll see.

  35. We vote to close. F:7 A:5 Abs:1. The meeting is closed.
