Minutes of the Up North meeting of the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society

Held on a bridge near the church in Huntington, North Riding of Yorkshire, at 4pm on Saturday 27th December 1997

Present: Andrew (who took the minutes as under-secretary, and also because he had a pen and paper handy. Trainspotters have some uses), Ben, Rob, Becky Taylor

Apologies: none

  1. The meeting is opened by Ben, as it's four o'clock on a Saturday, and the bridge on the River Foss looks like a good place to play Poohsticks.

  2. A vote to allow Becky Taylor-Huckvale to vote for the meeting is proposed by Rob and seconded by Ben.
    F3 A0 Ab0
    Motion passed. Becky can vote.

  3. A vote to censure Jon Jarrejt for not being present is taken.
    F2 A1 Ab1
Motion passed. Jon Jarrett is duly censured.

  4. Poohsticks is played, after the direction of the current is accertained. A photograph of the other players is taken by Andrew

    The results are:
    1 Rob,  $nbsp 2 Becky,    Andrew,    4 Ben
    1 Becky,    2 Andrew,    3 Ben,    4 Rob
    1 Becky

unfortunately the placings of the rest of us in the last game are lost to posterity (see next minute), but it is generally agreed that Becky has won. At least winning at Poohsticks provides some good news for her. A person who is going out with Magnus really needs some good news in her life.......

  5. A very rapid "vote to not get run over" is proposed by Andrew, seconded by general consensus, and passed unanimously. We get out of the way of the oncoming Landrover.

  6. Ben proposes the vote that "It's NOT grim up north." Becky seconds this.
    F4 A0 Ab0
motion passed. IT'S NOT GRIM UP NORTH*.

(*however, I feel it should be noted that Doncaster bus station is situated to the south of the location of the vote.)

  7. Vote to close.
    F2 A1 Ab1
motion passed, but only narrowly avoiding the need to accost an elderly gentleman walking his dog, to get him to decide a tied vote. The meeting is closed. We retire to Becky's house for tea.
