Minutes of the Elevenses Meeting of the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society In which Poohsticks is explained.
Held in BB6 on Saturday 24th October 1998
Present: Andrew, Jeremy, Martin, Gabriel, Kadia, Belinda, James, Jennifer, Thomas, Robert, Chris, Yasmin, Anthony, Michael, Claire, Jon, Rosie (Jennifer's sister), Neil (a teddy bear), Richard.
Apologies: Vicky (in Spain), Kirsten (ill) sends apologies and her love, including to those she's never met, Robert (exacting England's revenge for Hastings on Johnny foreigner)
- Yet again, Ben is not here. Andrew once again opens the meeting.
- Gabriel pays his Pooh Levy to Andrew, who will give it to the treasurer.
- The silver foil covering Anthony's wall is discussed. Jennifer beeps, and mysteriously disappears.
- Robert (a fresher) reads the minutes.
- We then tell him to read them aloud.... they are read by 16:13. What efficiency!!
- We vote to allow the visitors to vote.
- We vote to censure Ben, and speculate wildly on what he has been up to. He then finally arrives. Not long later, Jennifer returns.
- Ben extracts a series of mystery mugs from his bag. His mysterious object erects itself, but this turns out to be an umberella, to our relief.
- Mrs               , who wrote us a silly letter about the "Three Graces" sculpture, is censured. We vote to send a silly reply, which Jon will write, when he's not to busy recieving letters from blonde 16 year olds. (Ben gets jealous...) ( I presume they are female......?)
- Belinda explains to the Freshers about overland PoohSticks. Jon interupts.
- Rosie is given voting rights, and Andrew is censured for some reason (perhaps because nobody loves me)..
- Sainsbury's are censured, and we hear about Richard's complaint to Lord Sainsbury himself about poor service.
- The reading: "In which Pooh invents a New Game, and Eeyore joins in."
- There is applause for Jeremy's rendition of Roo. Astrophysicists have some uses.
- Belinda makes a good Eeyore.
- Next week's meeting will be in R4. Unfortunately Kadia must appologise, as she is singing then. Attempts to hold PoohSoc in the chapel are ruled out.
- Ben writes love letters to Yasmin and Claire, and anyone else who wants one gets added to the list.
- A vote to close is passed.
