Minutes of the Elevenses Meeting of the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society held on the 7th June 1997, in T4

Present: Sibylle, Anfoni, Rob, Stephen, Ben, Clare, Kamen.

  1. Ben and Stephen read their respective portions of last weeks minutes, as Ben hasn’t typed them yet, and nobody else can read them. Sorry everybody!

  2. Rob has an idea. Still, I suppose there’s a first time for everything.

  3. Ben’s mug needs “a little bit more than a rinse.” This is probably very true, but think of all the micro-organisms it would destroy.

  4. A vote or thanks is proposed for Sibylle providing Strawberries. F:5, A:0, Abs:1. A first at any Poohsoc meeting, and deservedly carried.

  5. There is yet more discussion of the garden party.

  6. Ben shows us what he has bought for Jacyntha, as mandated: Custard Creams, Jaffa Cakes, teas, and a bar of Dairy Milk.

  7. Rob’s idea ( 5 minutes later) is to have a Pooh Quiz at the Garden Party. Anfoni claims this is plagiarism, as he sent out this idea in an e-mail to the poohsoc mailing list. There is a furious debate on the matter, but a later check on e-mail reveals that Anfoni is in the wrong. Apologies to Rabbit.

  8. We vote to censure Jon for not being here, as is now traditional. F:4 A:0 Abs:2. Jon is censured.

  9. We vote to allow Kamen to vote for the duration of the meeting. F:5 A:0 Abs:1.

  10. It is decided that we will go on a Shopping Expoitition next Friday at 11a.m

  11. Ben reads us some German. At least that’s what I think it says. I’m not sure what the relevance of it was, but I did it.

  12. We decide upon a reading. Seeing as it’s the last (scheduled) meeting of the term, we read the last chapter of the New Testament.

  13. We vote to call an EGM for the purposes of electing Sibylle to the post of Christopher Robin, as she now qualifies, having been an officer of the society (the coastguard). Stephen will not agree to an EGM, so the committee cannot call one, so we need a vote from the members: F:2, A:3, Abs:1. No EGM is thus called, and the society remains Christopher Robinless.

  14. Sibylle is very nice, having given Poohsoc a new folder for the records.

  15. We vote to allow Rob to be the Summer Coastguard, just to feel useful. F:3, A:2, Abs:2. Rob is heartily congratulated.

  16. We vote, sadly, to close the last meeting of the term. F:3, A:3, Abs:1. There being no Christopher Robin or guests to settle the matter, we remain open, thus making the meeting the longest in Poohsoc History, even longer than the Formal Hall of War which remained open, I recall, for several months.
