Overland Poohsticks

Variant 1

To be played on a lawn or other large area

The Captain of Poohsticks shall umpire any matches unless he/she/it is unavailable or other arrangement has been made

The umpire shall mark start and finish lines on the lawn by placing markers at each end

The umpire shall prepare 'sticks' in advance from crepe paper and provide old newspapers

Each player should choose a 'stick' and a newspaper

At the beginning of each round the umpire shall shout "1, 2 , 3, twich"

No player's stick may leave the start line until the umpire has said "twich"

No player may touch his/her/its stick after the umpire has said "twich"

Sticks may only be propelled by means of the newspapers. The recommended method is to fan the sticks with the newspaper.
